ECETDHA :Electrical and Computer Engineering Technology Department Heads Committee

The mission of the Electrical and Computer Engineering Technology Department Heads Association (ECETDHA) is to promote the advancement, understanding, and appreciation of electrical, electronics, and related engineering technology programs at all levels. The Association also provides a mechanism for the collection and dissemination of data, opinions, and viewpoints of engineering technology program adminstrators.

ECETDHA was started in the mid 1970's and currently has a membership of over eighty institutions. Some of the current activities of the Association include sponsoring a mini-grant program to promote innovative ideas that benefit the membership and developing a national normalized assessment tool for the electronics and computer engineering technology community.

National ET Forum

In February 2009, The Engineering Technology Division (ETD) and the Engineering Technology Council (ETC), in conjunction with the College Industry Partnership (CIP) Division of ASEE held a National Forum to launch a new strategic initiative to help engineering technology (ET) programs across the country to enhance their ability to provide applied engineering talent for the future. The three groups invited ASEE corporate partners to the table to strategize on what initiatives might be pursued to make the largest positive impact on the current and eminent pool of graduates being educated for future technical positions. Several opening presentations were given to set the stage for the dialog and then a brainstorming session was held to generate ideas. Forty-five distinct tasks were proposed by the group and recorded for future vetting and refinement. To institutionalize this effort, the Engineering Technology Council is now establishing a standing committee to direct the continued efforts of the National ET Forum and collaborations with other entities such as ETD and ETLI.
